Yado Nishimura Shizuoka
Yado Nishimura is a farmhouse with more than 250 years of history. Built in the Edo period using traditional joinery without nails, it once served as the residence of a village headman. The structure and materials remain at the heart of the experience. Hand cut timber, wide tatami rooms and shoji that filter soft light create an atmosphere that feels both authentic and calm.
Set in the mountains of Shizuoka and surrounded by tea fields and forest, the house invites an unhurried rhythm. In line with its historical layout, the bath and toilet sit in an adjoining structure. The interiors stay quiet and intimate, with essential comforts that respect the spirit of the original home.
Maison Vanta’s photography focuses on texture and time. The grain of centuries old wood, the balanced geometry of tatami and shoji, and the gentle transition between interior and landscape are presented with clarity and restraint. This is an immersion in living heritage rather than a simple stay.
